Postgraduate Diploma in Business in Administration

This all round executive training programme appeals to working professionals who seek a core management qualification to provide a foundation to move from middle to senior management. Postgraduate Diploma in Business in Administration graduates, who achieve an average grade of a ‘B’ or above (across all eight courses) may be eligible to apply to the MBA or the Master of Business Development*.

Note: The final intake for the PGDipBus in Business Administration will start in Quarter Three 2020 (July 2020).

You are a New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have been resident in New Zealand for three years, and you have completed a bachelors degree and at least two years of relevant middle management experience, or have an approved professional qualification and at least two years relevant employment experience, or have completed at least five years of relevant employment experience.

Time commitment

Every Postgraduate Diploma in Business graduate will tell you that completing your degree and getting the most out of your class experience demands a lot of your time and support from your family and work colleagues.

You will complete eight courses over two years part-time. Each year is divided into four quarters, with one course per quarter. Each quarter is taught within 12 weeks in total.

You will be actively studying in-class for 30 hours per quarter. Classes run for ten weeks, plus there is one assessment week and one break week. For each hour in the classroom, you should commit approximately three hours to personal and group study.


Course content

You will complete one course during each 12-week quarter over two years. Classes are delivered on one week night: 5.30pm to 8.30pm.

Amount shown is indicative*. Students should also allow for up to $2500 annually for additional costs including admission fee, student services fee, textbooks, printing and parking.

You may be eligible for ‘free fees’

For eligible students, the government may pay up to a maximum of $12,000 towards first-year (or equivalent) fees. PGDipBus students, without a bachelor’s degree, may be eligible. You can check your eligibility for fees-free via the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC). Visit the TEC’s website.
